I love visiting The Cannery in Newport Beach because it is the most quintessential restaurant that completely epitomizes the fabulous Orange County lifestyle. One of the most common questions I get asked as a food blogger is, “where should I bring my friends and family visiting from out of town?”. My answer is always The Cannery in Newport Beach because it delivers everything your out of town guests will want to experience with gorgeous marina views, their famously decorated Jelly Fish Lounge, and amazing food.
You can find our favorite rings from [amazon_textlink asin=’B01N6AJ3H5′ text=’Kendra Scott’ template=’ProductLink’ store=’prettyfitfood-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’afdcd048-398f-11e7-b59b-4b0630c84522′]. I’m obsessed with their jewelry line because I can customize almost all of their pieces at no additional charge. You can find my Elysse ring here and the stacked ring set here.
First, they have an awesome happy hour which the locals love. Here you will find delicious handcrafted cocktails, special bar offerings and the freshest sushi available. As you make your way upstairs to the bar you will literally feel as though you are taking a dive into the pacific ocean. The Cannery’s interior designer did an amazing job of creating the iconic Jelly Fish Lounge. With their giant Jelly Fish hanging from the ceiling, they managed to create a beautiful elegant ambiance. Select menu items are 50% off between 3:30-7pm every day of the week. I highly recommend the Lemon Cali Roll, Seared Ahi Spicy Tuna Roll, and Shrimp and Lettuce Roll.
Next, for appetizers, you cannot go wrong with their oysters. They are some of the freshest oysters in all of Orange County and keep me coming back to The Cannery over and over again. If oysters aren’t your thing then you will definitely want to try their Grilled Hawaiian Prawns which are equally as delicious as they are beautiful. They are placed in whiskey barrel aged soy sauce and Thai chilies making this dish a serious winner.
The Grilled Octopus is another amazing dish. I order this at almost every restaurant I visit and our server let me know this was actually his favorite dish at the restaurant. Making it extra special is the addition of Sicilian pesto and pork grinds! Do not hesitate to get this appetizer.
You can find my white lace blouse here.
Finally, for your main course, The Cannery in Newport Beach is famous for their Lobster Pasta. The unique take on carbonara sauce is piled high with succulent fresh lobster. If I could I would eat this dish every day of my life.
In addition to their delicious dinner, there is nothing like having brunch on the marina. Without a doubt, this is one of my favorite Newport Beach brunch spots. Make sure you order their huevos rancheros with a bloody mary and the ahi poke.
