There are so many hotels to choose from if you plan on visiting Waikiki, and these are the 10 reasons we love the Sheraton Waikiki. Waikiki is located in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the beautiful island of Oahu. It’s easily one of the most popular travel destinations and offers stunning beaches with a city vibe. If you’re looking for the perfect hotel with easy access to shopping and activities but also looking for some rest and relaxation, the Sheraton Waikiki is the perfect balance of both.
About the Sheraton Waikiki
The Sheraton Waikiki recently underwent a major 200 million dollar renovation, and the upgraded changes have made a noticeable difference. The refreshed guestrooms now feature platform beds, spa-like bathrooms, and daybeds on the balconies. It is many of these new changes that have kept the Sheraton Waikiki a step above the rest when compared to other hotels in the area that have begun to feel outdated and worn.

1. Rooms Feel Relaxing & Secluded
One of the reasons we prefer the ocean-view rooms at the Sheraton Waikiki is that the hotel is designed in a way that makes each room feel secluded. The hotel’s curved shape offers privacy so that other rooms cannot see into your hotel room. If you’re sitting on the bed looking out, the view is completely unobstructed.
The rooms are also surprisingly quiet, and throughout most of our stay, we could only hear ocean waves and soft, relaxing music. On several occasions, I even fell asleep on the balcony.
2. Incredible Ocean & Diamond Head Views
Nearly 80 percent of guest rooms and suites at the property offer immaculate ocean and Diamond Head views. If you’re traveling to Waikiki, Hawaii, and are contemplating if you should splurge on that oceanfront view, you absolutely should. Waking up to the sound of the ocean and gazing out at that beautiful view throughout the day was incredible. The Sheraton Waikiki has one of the best views in Waikiki.
3. Huge Balconies
The private balconies at the Sheraton Waikiki are huge and have even been upgraded with large lounge chairs. We spent a good amount of time on our balcony enjoying cocktails, taking naps, and catching up on emails. It was my favorite feature of the rooms. The solid dividers and balcony wall also created extra privacy, which I prefer over rail balconies.
4. Prime Waikiki Location
The Sheraton Waikiki easily has the best location with easy access to amazing restaurants and tons of shopping. It is the most centrally located hotel, and we really enjoyed just walking around, finding random places to eat, and grabbing gifts to bring home for the family. It’s also one of the reasons I really enjoy Waikiki over the other islands. I enjoy knowing that I can walk to a Sephora if I forgot a hair product or can leave things at home and just do a quick Target run when I land.

5. Rumfire
Rumfire is the main restaurant located inside Sheraton Waikiki, and the food is delicious. It was so convenient to enjoy a nice meal after a long flight. Rumfire is beautiful, right on the beach, and has a large menu. They even have an Aloha Hour where you can get discounted appetizers like poke nachos and teriyaki chicken skewers.
6. Lawson Station Convenient Store
Inside the hotel is a fantastic convenience store with shockingly reasonable prices. Typically hotels try to nickel and dime you for everything, but at the Sheraton Waikiki, they offer a fabulous convenience store where you can purchase a 6 pack of water for $8, bottles of wine, prosecco, snacks, and any toiletries you may have left at home. We really enjoyed being able to grab drinks and enjoy them on the balcony.
7. Adult Only Infinity Pool
Locals and tourists alike will tell you that the Sheraton Waikiki has the best pool. As someone who has visited most of the popular hotels in Waikiki, I can confirm this. The pool at Sheraton Waikiki features an infinity edge which looks like it leads right into the ocean. It is also adults only so there are no screaming children. The pool is surprisingly quiet, peaceful and relaxing.
This pool is absolutely worth renting a luxury cabana or even renting some shaded chairs. If you enjoy relaxing by the pool, this is a pool you’ll want to spend the day at.
8. Plenty of Activities
If you are looking for fun activities right on the property, the Sheraton Waikiki offers plenty. You can take surf lessons, learn paddle boarding, make leis, learn to play the ukulele, and even feed the beautiful Koi fish. There are plenty of activities for both adults and children to keep you entertained throughout your stay, which I really appreciate.
9. Marriott Bonvoy Perks
If you are a Marriott Bonvoy Member, this is one of the few hotels that offers the coolest perks for platinum elite members and higher. Not only do you receive your 1,000 points (or a box of macadamia nut chocolates), but you also receive an additional perk! At check-in, you will receive a special card to go to the Marriott Bonvoy shopping store. Once you arrive, you will be given a bag that you can fill with any items that fit in your bag.
I was able to fit a container of lychee jelly candies, a box of Kona Coffee shortbread cookies, and a box of Macadamia Nut Cookies. My fiance was able to fit two containers of boxed cabernet wine and a lychee drink. It’s one of the best perks I’ve seen at any hotel for Marriott Bonvoy members!
10. Clean & Well Maintained with Charming Decor
Any hotel that is located near an ocean needs regular upkeep and upgrading. The Sheraton Waikiki feels clean and well-maintained throughout the hotel. The carpets were clean, the paint was fresh, and they invested in the most beautiful decor. During our stay, they had wonderful sand sculptures, and we even got to watch them being made. The entire hotel feels upgraded and luxurious. We found that even though many other hotels were very pricey, they were not as well maintained as the Sheraton Waikiki.
If you’ll be staying in Waikiki, Hawaii, I cannot recommend the Sheraton Waikiki enough. It is our favorite of all the Marriott properties and is truly miles above the other hotels in the area. The Sheraton Waikiki is the best combination of offering a luxurious experience at the best value.
