Don’t skip Rumfire at Sheraton Waikiki if you’re looking for delicious cuisine during your Hawaii vacation. I’m gonna let you in on a little secret, the best restaurants in Waikiki are located in the hotels. Many times when I travel, I typically only eat at the restaurant in the hotel because I happen to be staying there. However, when staying on Oahu and visiting Waikiki, you’ll find that the really great dining experiences are throughout the different hotels. All of the restaurants are also walking distance from each other so you never have to eat at the same place more than once.
Some of these restaurants are so delicious that you’ll likely end up eating there more than once, as was the case with Rumfire at Sheraton Waikiki. It goes without saying that Rumfire has incredible ocean views, but even if they didn’t, we would still dine there. Here’s a tasty, sneak peek of everything we tried at Rumfire at Sheraton Waikiki during our visit.
Aloha Hour
Tuna Tataki
Seared Kona Kampachi
On our second visit, I invited some friends from my college days of living in Hawaii that I hadn’t seen in almost 20 years. We enjoyed a fabulous dinner with drinks and appetizers. I was really impressed with the wide variety of options. During my time in Hawaii I enjoyed as much fresh fish as I could consume! I was torn between ordering the Lemon Herb Fresh Catch or the Seared Kona Kampachi.
On the suggestion of my server I went with the fresh and vibrant Kona Kampachi which is a light and flaky white fish. it arrived surrounded by colorful green curry sauce and was served with sweet potatoes, baby carrots, and confit cherry tomatoes. I was so glad I tried this dish. The sauce offered a flavorful addition to the dish, the vegetables were incredibly fresh, and the skin on the fish was seared to crispy perfection.
Pulehu New York Striploin
My fiance is a meat and potatoes kind of guy and ordered the Pulehu New York Strip Loin. Pulehu is a Hawaiian cooking method, which translates to “roast over hot embers”. Our 12oz NY Strip was grilled with a sprinkle of salt & pepper. Served on the side was a dollop of chipotle aioli for dipping. A delicious garlic and grape tomato confit rested on top of the steak and offered a sweet garlicky punch in each bite.
