I Tried the Best Teeth Whitening in Orange County: Here’s My Experience & Results

Lifestyle, Beauty

Recently I decided to research the best teeth whitening in Orange County and found We Whiten from various social media videos and referrals. This was my first time getting my teeth professionally whitened and I wasn’t sure what to expect. Here is my full experience and my results from the treatment.

Why I Decided to Get Teeth Whitening

I’ve never had my teeth professionally whitened before except for using over the counter crest strips in my 20’s. At 43 my teeth are still pretty white but I was starting to notice they were looking a bit dingy. I drink a latte every morning and love red wine so I’m surprised they have lasted this long. I also started making a drink made with fresh turmeric, ginger, and lemon juice to aid in my digestion first thing in the morning. The turmeric stains everything yellow.

I was going on a trip to Hawaii and decided to try out professional teeth whitening before my vacation.

Reasons to Get Teeth Professionally Whitening

Besides wanting a white smiler, the main reason I wanted to try professional teeth whitening was because I lack patience. I didn’t want to have to use messy crest strips or a tray each night and I usually fall asleep and forget.

With professional teeth whitening, you get the same results in an hour. Whitening strips and trays take numerous 10-30 minute treatments over a significant period of time.

The Best Teeth Whitening in Orange County

During my research, I found that the best teeth whitening in Orange County was by We Whiten. They have numerous locations including Irvine, Costa Mesa, and Huntington Beach. They also have great reviews and came highly recommended.

I had to do a bit of shopping before my trip so I decided to head to the Costa Mesa location which is right next to South Coast Plaza inside Sola Salons.

What to Expect When You Arrive

When you arrive, the process is quick and easy. They will insert a mouth piece so your front teeth are exposed. Then they will take a before picture so you can compare your results when the service is finished.

After taking your photo the nurse will apply a gum protector. You’ll then be given some eye protection glasses and she will cure the gum solution for about 15 seconds.

What to Expect During Your Treatment

Next, the nurse will apply the whitening gel. You’ll then lay under the light for 60 minutes. Every 20 minutes the nurse came to check on me.

During the treatment, your mouth can accumulate saliva so she inserted some cotton to help absorb it. They play music to keep you occupied, however, I just popped in my Airpods and listened to my music mix. I basically just took a nap during the entire teeth whitening process.

What to Expect After Your Treatment

At the end of the 60 minutes, the nurse removed the gum protector and had me rinse several times to remove the whitening gel. This was a bit messy, but she was great. I felt like I was drooling all over the place!

Once all the gel was removed, we took after photos. I was instantly able to compare my before and afters. My teeth were definitely several shades whiter.

We then put the mouth guard back in and put a solution on my teeth which helps desensitize them so you do not feel any discomfort. The solution stayed on for about 10 minutes and then I rinsed again.

The desensitizing solution is given to you to bring home as well as a mouth guard. You are then instructed to apply it that evening for 15 minutes. The desensitizing gel is the same ingredient they put in toothpaste like Sensodyne. I did not have too much tooth sensitivity so I only used this the night of my treatment.

Protecting your enamel

I personally use a few different types of toothpaste. I use a fluoride toothpaste which helps rebuild your enamel to prevent cavities and sensitivity. Consuming too much fluoride, however, is controversial as studies have shown too much fluoride can cause health problems. This is a great article on the pro’s and con’s of consuming fluoride.

Personally, I still think fluoride is important for our teeth to rebuild enamel and protect against cavities so to limit my consumption of fluoride, I use this filtered water bottle which filters fluoride along with numerous other chemicals and contaminants.

I then use a toothpaste that contains nano-hydroxyapatite which is a fluoride alternative for rebuilding your enamel. If I need to brush in the middle of the day I use an all-natural paste that does not have either.

Alternatives to Professional Teeth Whitening

If you’re looking for a professional at home treatment, We Whiten also offers at home teeth whitening kits which will give better results than over the counter products found in your typical drug store.

How Much Does Professional Teeth Whitening Cost?

A 90-minute professional teeth whitening session costs $249, a 60-minute treatment is $174, and a 30-minute treatment is $99. I did the 90-minute treatment which accounts for being under the light for 60 minutes. It is then recommended to do 30-minute touch-up sessions.

How Long Does It Last?

I am writing this article about a week after my treatment, so while I cannot say based on personal experience, the website says it should last up to 6 months with proper care. I am betting for myself it will last even longer since I tend to have pretty white teeth.

If you’re looking for the best teeth whitening in Orange County, I definitely recommend We Whiten based on my personal experience. Overall the process was very easy and the results look great. Visit We Whiten for more information or to book an appointment. If you have any questions about my treatment, don’t hesitate to leave a comment below.
