This Ninja Creami Pineapple Dole Whip Ice Cream is so incredibly easy to make and only uses 3 ingredients! It’s also dairy-free just like the Dole Whip at Disney, but better for you and lower in calories. As someone who visits Disneyland several times a month, Pineapple ice cream is one of my favorites.

What is in Disney’s Pineapple Dole Whip?
I wanted to go over what ingredients are in Disneyland’s Dole Whip so you can understand the difference between these two recipes, and also add modifications if you would like. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Dole Whip at Disney for a treat, but it’s also important to know what is in it.
- Powdered Milk: Disney’s Dole Whip uses a fake powdered milk that is dairy free. I add a little reduced fat canned coconut milk.
- Artificial Flavoring: While my recipe uses pure pineapple, Disney’s Dole Whip is made with artificial flavoring. You can add an artificial extract from Amazon, if you want to achieve closure to the pineapple flavor from the park. I personally just prefer to use the real thing. Let me repeat this: The Dole Whip Served at the Disney Parks Does Not Include Any Real Pineapple. It Is All Flavored Powder!!
- Stabilizers: The Dole Whip at Disney’s parks uses several stabilizers, including Cellulose Gum, Xanthan Gum, Locust Bean Gum, Guar Gum, Karaya Gum, and Pectin. This is to get the soft serve texture from a powdered mixture. My recipe uses no stabilizers and has a texture closer to that of a sorbet. You can add 1/4 tsp of guar gum and run it under the Light Ice Cream setting to get it a little closer to soft serve, but I personally like my ice creams firmer, so they don’t melt as quickly.
- Oil: Disney’s Dole Whip uses coconut oil, which will also make it high in calories, but produce a more soft serve texture. If you would like to replicate this, you can melt and add in 1/4 cup of coconut oil instead of the reduced-fat coconut milk.
Flavoring
This recipe uses a can of crushed pineapple with no sugar added syrup with monk fruit sweetener added instead. You can also use crushed pineapple in heavy syrup if you don’t care about the added sugar.
Stabilizers
All Ninja Creami ice creams need ingredients to stabilize the mixture and make it nice and creamy (not icy). This is especially true if you are using low-fat ingredients. This ice cream however, is closer to a sorbet, so no stabilizers are needed. The reduced-fat coconut milk is plenty to bind it all together a produce a creamier texture. If you want it to be even closer to a soft serve texture, you can add 1/4 tsp of guar gum.

Tips & Tricks
- After doing the first spin on the sorbet setting, you can taste the Dole Whip and add additional sweetener if needed, then do a respin. I found that adding 1 tbsp of agave was the perfect amount.
- The blade of the machine does not reach all the way to the edges or the very bottom of the container. To avoid an icy mixture, run the outside and bottom of the container under warm water for about 30 – 60 seconds before placing it in the machine. This will loosen the frozen mixture away from the edges.
- To adapt a standard Ninja Creami recipe (16 oz pint) for the Deluxe model (24 oz tub), you should increase the recipe by 1.5 times.
Sweetener
This Ninja Creami Dole Whip is naturally sweet from using the canned pineapple. I use no sugar added, but if you wanted your Pineapple sorbet to be sweeter, you could use crushed pineapple in heavy syrup, or add your own sweetener.
Pro Tip: When you add sweeteners to your Ninja Creami ice cream mixture, the freezing process mutes the flavor. I get around this by adding any additional sweetener when I re-spin the ice cream.
Alternatives
Here are some alternatives and substitutions you can use when making this ice cream to suit your preferences..
- You can make this recipe using any type of sweetener; these are just my preferences to get the most natural flavor while keeping the ice cream low-calorie. I am not a fan of the aftertaste left by most sugar alternatives.
- If you use fresh pineapple, you will need to cook it down in water and your preffered sweetener to create a syrup for best results.
