This Strawberry Spinach Salad features plump blueberries, feta cheese, and crushed pistachios topped with a sweet balsamic vinaigrette. It’s incredibly easy to make and the perfect summer salad for get-togethers, a quick lunch, or even a sweet snack.
Why You’ll Love This Strawberry Spinach Salad
This salad is so effortless to make it can be thrown together in less than 10 minutes. It’s also delicious and a great way to enjoy fresh seasonal fruit with added nutrients from the spinach. This is one of my most popular salads to serve at family gatherings.
If I have leftover chicken, I will also throw together a smaller individual serving to enjoy for lunch. Since this salad uses fresh fruit and sweet balsamic, it’s also great to curb your sweet tooth cravings. I have a huge sweet tooth and will throw this together when I’m craving dessert.
Ingredients
Here is a list of the ingredients used in this salad with a few notes on choosing the best options.
Strawberries & Blueberries
When making this salad I try to choose the best strawberries and blueberries I can find. I also love to grow strawberries in the summer or go strawberry picking and this is a great way to use up all the fruit.
Pistachios
You’ll want to choose unsalted pistachios, but they can be raw or roasted.
Feta Cheese
I love feta cheese and since I enjoy cooking a lot of Mediterranean cuisine, I always have a good pack of feta in the fridge. This is my favorite brand of feta and I love using the blocks of feta over the crumbled feta.
Balsamic
For this salad, I like to use a good quality aged balsamic vinegar and then top it with a light drizzle of sweet balsamic glaze. It is absolutely worth investing in a quality aged balsamic. Good balsamic vinegar will not be runny, it should be thick enough to coat a spoon and poor out more slowly.
When choosing a balsamic glaze, you want to look at the percentage of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and avoid reductions that use coloring and thickening agents. Surprisingly, the Trader Joes balsamic glaze is a great affordable option and has the same quality as many other glazes with a much higher price point.
Substitutions
Here is a list of substitutions that also work for this Strawberry Spinach Salad if you want to change things up or use ingredients you already have in the house.
- Fruits: instead of just strawberries and blueberries you can add raspberries, blackberries, mulberries, cloudberries, boysenberries, pomegranate seeds, and figs.
- Nuts: instead of pistachios, you can also substitute walnuts, almonds, or pecans.
- Cheese: another great alternative to feta is goat cheese.
- Salad: if you do not happen to have spinach, kale is a great alternative, especially baby kale.
Instructions
In a large bowl add your spinach, sliced strawberries, blueberries, and 1/4 cup of the balsamic mixed with the olive oil. Gently toss all the ingredients together and pour onto a large serving dish. Then add your feta, chopped pistachios, and a drizzle of balsamic reduction to finish off the salad. Serve the remaining balsamic on the side for anyone who would like to add a little extra.

Storage
Since this salad uses fresh fruit, I do not recommend storing it in the fridge for more than one day. After that, the strawberries are not as good. When I serve this salad, I try not to make a larger portion than I think everyone will eat as I do not like wasting food.
