Westwood Coast in Costa Mesa is helping Triangle Square step up its culinary game. This new, unique restaurant concept combines an epic Steakhouse with a lively country music bar. You’ll definitely want to arrive with your appetite and stay late into the evening to enjoy their fantastic lineup of live entertainment. At Westwood Coast, you’ll visit for the food and stay for the entertainment!
The Country Vibes
I have to admit that I do not listen to country music, but when I saw the incredible menu and country decor, I knew I had to visit. The moment you step through the door, you’ll find a fun mix of rustic chic decor, fun photo-worthy signage, and even a mechanic bull. During our visit, they also had a live performer who played a fantastic mix of country music hits and popular songs with a country twist.
“Big Daddy” Tomahawk Steak
The real star of the show, however, is the cuisine. I would put this new steakhouse on par with the best steakhouses in Orange County. In fact, I would dine here over some other popular, more well-known restaurants. Westwood Coast offers a wide variety of cuts, from a 45-day aged porterhouse to 28-day dry aged ribeye.
We decided to try Westwood Coast during OC Restaurant Week, which offered an amazing date night deal for their 32 ounce “Grand Daddy” Angus Beef Tomahawk with a side of garlic mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and a chimichurri sauce. This fabulous Tomahawk was enormous and seared to perfection. Each bite was incredibly tender, juicy, and full of flavor.
Even the side dishes were delicious. The mashed potatoes were imbued with garlicky flavor, and the Brussels were crisped to perfection with a flavorful cider honey butter accented with large chunks of seasoned pork belly.
Oysters
Our OC Restaurant Week meal even came with a choice of starters, including a half dozen oysters, which I wasn’t expecting to find on their menu. The oysters were fresh, plump, and delicious with mignonette and cocktail sauce.
Etouffee
I also decided to try their Etouffee with blue prawns, PEI mussels, and grilled sourdough. I love Cajun cuisine, and Etouffee is not a dish you find often in Southern California. Whenever ordering a bowl of mussels, it’s always all about this sauce, and this Etouffee knocked it out of the park. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and the toasted sourdough provided the perfect tool for soaking up every last bit of sauce.
King Salmon
During my visit to explore the new Westwood Coast menu, I additionally wanted to try the King Salmon. It was prepared to the perfect medium well with a crispy top sear and plated over a creamy butternut risotto. I especially enjoyed the large, tender chunks of winter squash. I did not expect to enjoy this dish as much as I did, but it was fantastic.
Dessert
I had one of the best desserts of my life here, so absolutely do not skip dessert! Their clever Coffee Cake with Rum Tres Leches is to die for. Imagine the most perfectly fluffy coffee cake with copious amounts of crumbled streusel topping, sitting in a pool of sweet condensed rum tres leches sauce. This dessert was a 10/10!
Hours
Throughout the evening, I was thoroughly impressed with the perfect execution of each dish. If you are in the area, or you’re searching for the next best steakhouse in Orange County, Westwood Coast in Costa Mesa is a must-visit. The restaurant is open at 5pm Monday through Friday and 4pm on the weekends. Last call for dining is at 9:30pm if you plan to enjoy a fabulous meal and then stay after for live music, dancing, and drinks!
