Which Holland America Ships Have Tamarind Restaurant?

Cruisers can find the popular Tamarind specialty restaurant on the Nieuw Amsterdam, Eurodam, Rotterdam, and Koningsdam Holland America Line ships.

The Tamarind menu is also available in Pinnacle Grill on Westerdam Asia itineraries and Zuiderdam Grand World Voyage itineraries.

Tamarind Holland America Cost?

Tamarind is one of Holland America’s specialty restaurants and is available to cruisers for an additional cost of $35 per cruiser plus an 18% gratuity. This is the new menu pricing introduced in 2024.

When dining at Tamarind on Holland America, cruisers can choose as many appetizers and side dishes as they would like to try. However, each diner may only choose one entree. Each additional entree incurs an additional $10 fee.

On our Caribbean Cruise with Holland America, we sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam and enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Tamarind. Below are some of the most popular dishes and delicious photos of our visit.

Tamarind-Satay

Appetizers

For appetizers, we enjoyed their delicious Satay Sampler which arrived with Malaysian lamb, Chinese beef, Indonesian Pork, and Vietnamese shrimp satay skewers. They were served with a variety of dips and each skewer had a unique flavor all its own.

The Shrimp Tempura was also absolutely delicious and crisped to perfection. It was served with a sweet miso and zesty ponzu sauce for dipping.

A La Carte Sushi

Tamarind also offers a la carte sushi and I am a huge fan of yellowtail nigiri and ahi. We enjoyed their a la carte sushi both at Tamarind and during our visit to Morimoto by Sea. You can view the full sushi menu below.

Tamarind-Beef-Tenderloin

Entrees

For entrees, we the Wasabi & Soy Crusted Beef Tenderloin. This was our favorite steak on the entire cruise which was incredibly and cooked to perfection. It was served with a tempura onion ring and tonkatsu sauce.

Tamarind-Panang-Red-Curry

For our second entree, I wanted to try a traditional Asian dish and opted for their Panang Red Curry Coconut Chicken which was just bursting with flavor in each bite. The red curry broth was so authentic and wonderful with wok-seared vegetables, roasted peanuts, and a crispy lotus root.

Dessert

Tamarind offers an assortment of delicious desserts. The sorbet is always outstanding and is made in-house. I also recommend the unique Passion Fruit Cloud which is a light and fluffy white souffle like a meringue served with a passion fruit sorbet.

I love desserts so I also tried the Mango Posett which is a dense cake like macaroon with passion fruit jelly and mango sorbet.
