How do Regular Chocolate Truffles Compare to Avocado Chocolate Truffles ?
Regular chocolate truffles are made with heavy cream, butter, and regular chocolate which has a higher amount of carbs and sugars. The nutritional content of a normal chocolate truffle is estimated to be 61 calories, 5.4g of carbs, and 4.6g of sugar.
These keto truffles, however, use avocado to reduce the amount of chocolate and heavy cream needed while still giving that fluffy mousse-like texture. They can also be made with sugar-free chocolate to eliminate even more carbs and sugar. With only 49 calories, 2g of net carbs, and 1g of sugar, avocado chocolate truffles are the perfect healthy treat. Your friends and guests will never have a clue they’re enjoying avocados!

Are Truffles Keto?
1oz of chocolate has 13g of carbs. Though regular chocolate truffles are not keto, the use of avocado to make these low carb keto chocolate truffles reduces the net carbs to 2g per truffle and makes the perfect keto and low carb dessert.
What makes these chocolate truffles Keto?
Use dark chocolate made with at least 70% or more cocoa to limit the carbs and sugars. The higher the cocoa percentage in the dark chocolate, the less the sugar. Using monk fruit sweetener is also a healthy sugar-free alternative to white sugar. Monk fruit sweetener does not have a noticeable aftertaste and is used in many of my keto recipes.
Instructions
First, start by slicing the avocado lengthwise and removing the pit. Then, use a potato masher, food processor, or a hand blender to mash it until smooth. Next, chop the chocolate into evenly sized pieces to ensure even melting. Then melt it using either a double boiler on the stovetop or microwave.
If you are using a microwave, heat the chocolate pieces in a microwave-safe bowl on 50% power for approximately 2 mins, stopping every 20 to 30 secs to stir. If you are using the double boiler method, then simmer one cup of water in a medium saucepan on low heat. Then, place a glass or metal bowl with chocolate pieces on top of the saucepan resting on its edges without touching the water. Stir occasionally until the chocolate is melted and then remove from the heat.
Now, let the chocolate cool down to room temperature and add the melted chocolate to the mashed avocado and mix until combined. Next, stir in powdered monk fruit, vanilla extract, and cacao powder and stir well to combine.
Chill the batter in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to harden. This batter will make soft and moist truffles. If you prefer denser and harder truffles, check the texture first and add an extra tablespoon of cacao powder if needed after chilling.
Next, grease your hands slightly and roll the batter into even-sized balls. This batter makes around 15 to 18 truffles. Use a small cookie scoop to scoop the batter for rolling which will achieve even-sized chocolate truffles. Once the awesome truffle balls are ready, you can coat these with any preferred coatings. Please check out some fun coating ideas below.
